Intern: Strategic Pricing (Summer 2020)

This position will run May 18-August 14, 2020, at 40 hrs/week.
The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the students’ career goals through contacts with professionals in their field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Mack Trucks Strategic Pricing by working on important and innovative projects. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organizations. These assignments allow students to integrate knowledge and skills in manners that are mutually beneficial to the students and Mack Trucks.
  • Lead and develop a competitive intelligence database for Mack
  • Influence others within Pricing and Marketing to develop and expand competitive database
  • Identify different sources of competitive information
  • Apply statistical methods to identify data integrity issues and to develop/validate predictive models
  • Perform analysis on large amounts of pricing data from multiple sources
  • Daily collaboration with Pricing, Marketing and Sales teams to identify competitive needs
  • Review price book pricing and identify areas for improvement and consistency
  • Leverage insights to influence Senior Management and drive business value
  • Use Volvo/Mack internal systems to challenge / complete the information
  • Make pricing / product portfolio recommendations to drive short and long term strategies
Essential Skills and Required Experience:
  • Prefer a Junior, Senior or Graduate level student
  • Applicant must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Business, Statistics, Finance, Economics or Engineering and have completed 30 hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Summer Interns are required to work 40 hours or less per week
  • Willingness to develop a project and collaborate with stakeholders inside the organization
  • Desire to develop into a strong technical leader
  • Passion for using analytics in problem solving
  • Strong business and financial understanding
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interest in truck industry
  • Strong Excel and Access skills
