Intern: Market Analyst (Summer 2020)

Position Description:
    Join the Market Intelligence team: a central hub that engages leadership across the organization with strategic research and data. Our responsibilities include areas such as industry forecasting, competitive analysis, customer research, market performance and advanced data analytics.
    We are looking for an intern candidate to consolidate market data and insights into profiles in order to identify key opportunity/strategic areas. In addition, to support the market intelligence team with information sharing migration and participate in ad hoc projects/research.
    This role provides hands-on market research experience, where you have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge/skills in a professional environment. Over the course of the internship you will be able to network with professionals across the company and within your area of study.
    Responsibilities / Main tasks / Targets:
    • Build market profiles, consolidating quantitative and qualitative information.
    • Support in information sharing enhancements via SharePoint.
    • Support implementation and usage of new tools to the Volvo Group.
    • Support development, analysis and administration of Volvo and Mack market intelligence activities.
    • Additional ad hoc research projects.
    Essential Skills and Required Experience:
    • Ability to analyze and summarize information, identifying patterns/trends and significance.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint. Experience in data visualization programs such as Power BI is a plus.
    • Strong writing and reading comprehension.
    • Strong research background.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication.
    • Familiar with Internet based search tools and capabilities.​

    Education Requirements:
    • Applicants must be pursuing a Business, Statistics/Research and/or Marketing degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
    • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
    • Summer Interns can work up to 40 hours per week.
